I’m Ruth, an integrative therapist with a passion for helping adults navigate life’s challenges, from anxiety and depression to grief, loss and trauma. I’m fascinated by what it means to be human and love working with adults from all walks of life.

I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and integrate both Person-Centred and Psychodynamic theory, and my therapeutic practice is trauma-informed.

I work one-to-one with adults experiencing a range of challenges, including:

Common Mental Health Problems – anxiety, body focused repetitive behaviours, depression, loneliness, low self-esteem, neurodevelopmental disorders, personality disorders, self-harm, stress, suicidal ideation.

Grief and Loss – bereavement, acute grief, anticipatory grief, complex and complicated grief, disenfranchised grief, living losses (e.g. divorce, illness, redundancy), sudden and unexpected death, suicide, traumatic grief and loss.

Trauma – abuse (emotional, physical, sexual), child neglect, domestic violence, secondary trauma.

I have completed Cruse Bereavement Care’s Foundation Course in Bereavement Support, training and working with Cruse during the Covid pandemic. I have also completed specialist training in: bereavement by suicide; children, trauma and grief; children, grief and neurodivergence; learning disabilities and autism; trauma; understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences and working with refugees and asylum seekers. I’m also multilingual and seek to support clients whose first language isn’t English.

If you’re seeking a safe and supportive space to explore your feelings and find a way forward, I’m here to help. I offer therapy online making support accessible no matter where you are.

Hi, my name is Emma (she/her). I provide a supportive and understanding therapy space that promotes healing, resilience and recovery from traumatic experiences, such as abuse, violence, accidents, traumatic loss, natural disasters other distressing events; these may have been prolonged and repeated.

I understand the vulnerability and courage it takes to work through trauma and abuse; it can feel scary or even impossible at times. I recognise how trauma can impact your mental, emotional and physical wellbeing and I strive to ensure you feel respected and as secure as possible. I will be with you every step of the way, working at your own pace to gently explore your difficulties, your strengths and hopes.

You will always been in complete control of our sessions and there is no expectation for you to relive your trauma; I am committed to keeping you safe from further harm or traumatisation. We will work safely in your limits of what feels comfortable. I am experienced in providing Pre-Trial Therapy in accordance with the principles from the Crown Prosecution Service.

I can support you to better understand and manage your triggers and develop different ways to respond to distressing thoughts, feelings, internal images, and uncomfortable body sensations to help you feel more in control.

If you are ready to start your therapy journey you can email us at: info@therapyroomspainswick.co.uk

We will book you in for an assessment session where we can get to know each other, and talk about what you need help with.

We look forward to meeting you.
